If you are so inclined, another potential add-on to these Evil Speakers posts would be updates on other podcasts that you appear on. I search about once a month to see where else you pop up. Also would enjoy recommendations of books, movies, and television (music related or not) that you are reading and watching. I remember particularly enjoying the podcasts where you discussed the movies Light of Day and True Confessions. On your various podcasts, you have talked in the past about the music in Billions and The Bear. I started watching both shows based on your recommendations.
Sometimes Neil is “Neil bad” which is bad but it’s Neil so he gets a pass because you enjoy being with crazy lovable Uncle Neil and you’re glad he’s doing his thing. But this album is just bad bad. It went from fun crazy to sad crazy. The live shows right now are really good though. No new songs played thank god.
Neu Blume reminds me a lot of the Mendoza Line - sounds good
As per others, keep dipping into different albums by the Boss from the megabox - "Streets of Philadelphia Sessions" probably my favourite at this point in time
I don't think I've ever heard Lord Huron; where should I begin after the mega-hit?
I’m still processing the Springsteen drop. Maybe I’m a normie, but North of Nashville is my favorite, followed by Philly Sessions. Also love a lot of the Perfect World stuff, but then again I was a huge fan of Letter To You so that kinda tracks
On Eli Enis’s recommendation I checked out the new Coma Cinema album and was totally blown away. I don’t think I’ve listened to any of their other music but I’ve got to go back now and check it out.
I’ve always thought that the one veteran artist whose album you didn’t like hasn’t been able to produce quality songs since that brain aneurysm in 2005. It’s like he lost the part of his brain that contained his ability to write a decent hook. That being said, I have bought all those albums released since 2005 in hopes that something will have changed.
Have you checked out Lou Hazel's latest album "Riot of the Red"? Fantastic songwriting. His sound is reminiscent of Hiss Golden Messenger. Check out the tracks "Little Peace" and the title track.
That Lord Huron stat - “The Night We Met” with 3.1 billion streams - is wild. My three daughters have tickets to see them this fall. I doubt they’d want their old dad tagging along, but I’ve been a fan far longer than they have. I look forward to your review of their new album.

Good idea. Thanks for the suggestion! And thanks for reading!

lol I like the "Neil bad" theory. Plenty of Neil bad records from this century, for sure. As well as bad bad Neil.
It is telling how little new music he tends to play on his recent tours. I saw him last summer and he played exactly one song from this century

I don't go deep on LH but Strange Trails seems like the consensus "one."
Digging this Neu Blume album. Has an early Belle and Sebastian aesthetic

Philly is hands down my No. 1. Not as high on Nashville but it's definitely a fun listen.

Also finally got around to the Cameron Winter album this weekend. So weird but also good. I’m hearing Ween if they were into, like Joni Mitchell?

Loved this dispatch!
Thanks Carlos!

The new Van Morrison album is very, very good. Stretching Out is an exceptional song; classic Van.
Memories and Vision, Remembering Now as well as Cutting Corners are simply great music.
