Love its back and would shell out. Uproxx always seemed like a weird fit. Ringer article this week was great.
Question: how would you recommend digesting the new Springsteen stuff? Listen to the condensed two album overview? If you’re going one at a time is there an order that makes sense? Thanks
I say go through the individual albums. It's a feast. Chronological order makes sense though "Streets Of Philadelphia Sessions" really is the knockout of the bunch, imo.
Would be very willing to support your efforts on Substack if you move most, if not all, of your content here. Long-time fan, listener, reader, etc. Keep up the great work!
As a dude who has loved the killers for as long as I’ve been sentient, it’s been tremendously vindicating to hear your praise for both pressure machine and now their live show lol. Seems like some are apprehensive to show much love to them, at least critically
Been reading your work since the AV Club days and have bought most of your books, so yes, I’d certainly be a paying subscriber if you took the newsletter plunge.
Would be more than willing to pay, especially if it includes indiecast or a pod of a different title that happens to have Ian Cohen as a co-host and hashes out trends.
I have been consuming music writing since the late 70s (Rolling Stone, Spin, Musician magazine, Downbeat, Uncut, books, newspapers, etc.), and I am sad to see the demise of the magazine format and mainstream media in general. But I am also thrilled with independent journalism. I wholly support you positioning yourself for independent journalism (and will pay when the time comes), but milk legacy media for everything it is worth! In the meantime, use Substack as a central hub to link your work across various platforms and to write the non-assignment pieces your heart desires. Keep it free until it becomes the central place for new material. Consider serializing your future books.
The big challenge will be how many independent journalists will a guy like me subscribe to? My guess is about five subscriptions. Will you be able to generate enough high-quality content to make it worthwhile for me to make you one of the five? Although reading your Upprox material on Substack would be worth the price of admission, as Upprox is almost unreadable due to the ads, especially longer pieces.
As for the new Springsteen box - I love it. It does not redefine Springsteen for me, but it fills in some gaps, and it delivers on the rumors I have heard over the years. Only disappointment? No Electric Nebraska!
always love your work, would pay to subscribe! and selfishly, as more of a reader and less of a podcast listener, finding & keeping up with it would be much easier
Also gotta say that I appreciate these Boss takes because I listened to the Loops album on Friday and felt like maybe I was going insane because I also thought 'damn, is this like, maybe one of his best albums???'
Another potential subscriber RIGHT HERE. I'm not feeling the Hotline TNT stuff as much as many folks that I know but I love that Pitsch is getting a little press out of it. Very disturbed by how memory-holed Tenement seems to be these days.
Glad to see you’re back, Steven. I continue to listen to Indiecast every week and was wondering if you quit Substack. I’d definitely pay for a subscription.

What's funny is the headline literally says "it was awesome" and the dudes on Killers Reddit were still pissed at me lol

I would pay for your newsletter.
Great to hear, thanks!

Anything is possible!
Would absolutely be willing to pay a small subscription fee for your stuff. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!

Would definitely subscribe if you came here full time!
Thanks Grant!

Thank you Lauren!
Would pay, especially if we get a patio hall of fame updates!
Ha! Good to know, thank you!
Since I shut down my larger social presence mostly I’ve been inconsistent in keeping up with your great music takes. Gotta remember to keep up!
Would most definitely subscribe. Really enjoy your work!
Thanks Brent!
