You can't just point to a Pitchfork score. I'm making a vibes assessment. The careers of all those bands shifted in that moment, which was pretty obvious if you were around at the time.
Fair enough, I’d agree both were coming off their best projects, but the pitchfork score is an indication of their vibes at the time, double infinity is going to get like a 7, though it’s a different landscape. I was definitely around at the time, my experience was just different. Looking forward to the discog project :)
Zach Top has the occasional cleverness that I’m always looking for in country. Also, laughed at “Besides, nobody holds on to the juice forever. (Unless you die young, which is a terrible option in every other possible way, obviously.)” I will get behind the dying ≠ good philosophy of music criticism.
What I'd be interested to hear is you exploring catalogues you DON'T know but that should, in theory, be in your wheelhouse from beyond your borders - The Tragically Hip from Canada, Died Pretty from Australia (who I know you have at least a passing knowledge of), or Swervedriver from the UK as examples
Personally I'm less interested in you deep diving on what you already know and appreciate; explore outside the realms of your knowledge, but instead curious to read your thoughts on what you don't know
